T-'oerpel to r4syor Swietyniowski as to when the <br />money was made available to increase tha Asaistant Director's aalarq, Department of <br />Human Resources, Mrs. Petrigac stated that Ordinance "Io. 81-60, passa3 May 19, 1981, <br />transferxed $1,n00 frora the General Fund, 1•4iscellaneous to Gexseral Fund, ?iuman <br />Resources Dep artrnent Asaistsat Director. <br />Mr. Wilamosky discussed the drainage problems 3n the City, specifically the Fawn, <br />Chase, Aoe, Antler, Deerfield axea. Engineering Department made a preeentatian <br />to Streets and Drainage Connittee with respect to developfng an eagineering study <br />to install Hydzo-bratve, xahich would reduce the anount of flana goin!; into storm <br />sei,yers9 thereby reducing the presaure in the storm sewer and hopefully alleviating <br />floodinQ. Feels this taould be a good, worthwhile project to substitute for the <br />street lighting program under Communitv nevelopment B2ock Grant Funds. <br />ARr. ?)oerpel stated that xahile this may be the right answer for this particular <br />area, how does this fit into the Severe System Fvaluation Snrveq and the long range <br />plan for the ot:her areas in the City where we have si*nilar nroble?ns. TRhat is the <br />fessibility of having thpse other areas quslify for 131ock Grant Funds or are <br />there some areas the City would have to do it? <br />Mayor Swietyniouaski replied that there are definitelq areas where the Citq will have <br />to do it because not all areas w-et the critvria to qualifq under the ?31ock Grant <br />Funding process. This particular program, Hydro-brake, would enhance the on-going; <br />program the City is cornmitted to. Diseussion continued. <br />Mr. °icKay painted out Chat one of the areas that could be considered in the future <br />is the Plumayood area which is eligible for Block Grant *noney. <br />Ntr. T•Tilamoaky moved that Gouncil support and authorize the "'[ayor to subr.iit to the <br />Countv, a change of priority, from street Iighting to an engineering analysis in <br />the area of Deerfield to help alleviate flooding, seconded by *trs. Petrigac, <br />unanimously approved.
