Y
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
JULY 2, 1985
Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, O'Grady, Petrigac,
Rademaker, Saringer, Tallon, Wilamosky.
Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance
Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell.
Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:20 P.M., in Council Chambers,
5200 Dover Center Road.
Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes of the Council Meeting of June 18, 1985, were approved.
President Boehmer announced that a Special Council Meeting will be held on July 3rd
at 7:30 P.M., as well as July 9th, at 7:30 P.M. The purpose of these meetings is
note ordinances in reference to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Further, there will
be a Public Hearing at 7:15 P.M., on July 15th, and another Special Council Meeting
following that at 7:30 P.M. Also, there are three new pieces of legislation being
placed on tonight's agenda: Ordinance No. 85-75, issuance and sale of $4,000,000
bonds for improving the Municipal Sanitary Sewerage System; Ordinance No. 85-76,
adopting the 1986 budget; and Ordinance No. 85-77, establishing salaries for non-
uniform personnel of the Police Department.
Mayor Swietyniowski reported: 1) Reconstruction of Lorain Road should be completed
by the end of July; the August deadline for completion of Dover Center Road will
probably be met, certainly no later than by the end of September, weather permitting.
The work on Clague Road should not take more than two weeks and should be completed
prior to mid-August. Bids have been received and should be awarded within three
weeks.
Law Director Gareau reported: 1) The Zurawski Case was tried last week; decision
is expected to be rendered by Friday.
Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) Safety equipment notes of $120,000 and street
repair notes at $480,000 will be closed on July 9th for a period July 9th to
November 11th. They were sold at 5.47 and the Lorain Road notes of $120,000 will
go one year at 5.6'.
2) Real estate taxes are due on July 5th; the City's portion is paid.
3) Regional Income Tax has refunded the city $29,109.44 from the retainage of 1984,
reducing costs to 3.47. Collections, at this point, are up 2.647, $40,400. This
is a lot lower than it has been. Part of this is processing of income tax this
year. All monies collected by the end of April were processed and distributed by
the end of May. Normally, it was taken into June and in prior years even into July.
That accounts for, hopefully, not all of the increase this year. Would like council
to be aware that there is a slight increase.
.ate ~..~,~.,....... ~,~~~st.~
