MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MAY 21, 1985 Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, O'Grady, Petrigac, Rademaker, Saringer, Tallon, Wilamosky. Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M., in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes of Council Meeting of May 7, 1985, were approved. President Boehmer announced: 1) Ordinance No. 85-38, amending Section 351.18 of the codified ordinances to provide for an increased penalty for violating Section 351.20, entitled "Handicapped Parking", has been removed from the agenda. 2) A Council-of-the-Whole Committee Meeting will be held Thursday, May 23rd, at 7:30 P.M., to discuss CDBG funds. 3) A Special Council Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 23rd, at 8:00 P.M. Ordinance Nos. 85-48, 85-61, 85-62, 85-63, 85-64 and 85-66 will be on the agenda. 4) Because of the Primary Election on June 4th, the next regular Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 5th, at 8 P.M. 5) Resolution No. 85-65, awarding an increase of fifteen sick days reimbursement to Chief Marion Taylor, North Olmsted Police Department, retired, has been added to the agenda for first reading this evening. Mayor Swietyniowski reported: 1) City has purchased flowers to be planted by the North Olmsted Garden Club at Brookpark and Lorain Roads as well as North Olmsted Park. Appreciates the Garden Club's help in this project. 2) Islands in the parking areas near the Senior Center are finished; City will landscape these areas as well. 3) North Olmsted Kiwanis Club will conduct a cleanup and planting project around the Community Cabin the weekend of June 1st and 2nd. 4) New flags have been purchased and will be in place for Memorial Day weekend. 5) Transportation Study Committee met at 9 A.M. last Saturday at Great Northern Mall. Committee discussed drafting a questionnaire to be distributed to each household in the city and scheduled a community workshop for September 21, 1985. Additional activities include a speakers' bureau, periodic briefing papers and manning a booth at the Nort~ii'Olmsted Chamber of Commerce business show in August at Great Northern Mall. Urges all residents to fill out and return the questionnaire. 6) Law Director, Administrative Assistant Terbrack and Mayor met with RTA to discuss cost of operating the bus line; both sides claim to be able to operate at the lowest cost per mile. Another meeting is scheduled.
