<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE .COUNCIL
<br />OF THE CITY OF .NORTH OLMSTED
<br />APRIL 15, 1986
<br />Present: President Dwayne Woerpel, Councilmen Lackey, McKay, O'Grady,
<br />Rademaker, Saringer, Tallon, Wiiamosky.
<br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law .Director Michael Gareau, Finance
<br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell.
<br />Meeting was called to order by President Woerpel at 8:05 P.M., in Council Chambers,
<br />5200 Dover Center Road.
<br />Members of the audience were invited to loin Members of Council in reciting the
<br />Pledge of Allegiance.
<br />Minutes of the Special Council Meeting of March 29, 198b, were approved.
<br />Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting of April 1, 1986, were approved.
<br />President Woerpel announced that Ordinance No. 85-39, sale, possession and use
<br />of stun guns, has been removed from tonight's agenda and placed back in committee
<br />for further review.
<br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) Attended a Mayor's Court Seminar last Saturday;
<br />has asked for information on the .procedure for setting up a Mayor's Court to be
<br />forwarded to her; will be visiting other Mayors' Courts in the area.
<br />2) Council has been provided with copies of letter regarding the Child Registry
<br />Program which began last year. A Child Registry Safety Fair is being planned
<br />again for this Fa11. It will be a cooperative effort between PTA, the schools,
<br />North Olmsted City Council and the administration. Signs which state: "Warning:
<br />Children in this community protected by Child Registry", will be placed at seven
<br />entrances to the City of North Olmsted within the next few weeks.
<br />3) Arbor Day will be celebrated on April 25th and 26th. Butternut trees will be
<br />planted on Butternut Ridge Road on April 25th; Landmarks Commission has been in-
<br />vited to participate in this event. On April 26th, Cub Scout Packs will be plant-
<br />ing trees around the Recreation Complex at approximately ten o'clock; partici-
<br />pation is encouraged.
<br />4) A Tree City, USA, Award Ceremony will be held in Brooklyn on Monday, April 2~,st;
<br />City of North Olmsted will be receiving an award at a luncheon.
<br />5) Budget and Management Director Cunningham and Mayor Petrigac met with Blue
<br />Cross representatives to review the city's rates which have risen. approximately
<br />23-1/27. Blue Cross will be meeting with all city employees, in .the next few
<br />weeks, to review different insurance plans, answer questions, and change the
<br />employees insurance at that time, if they so desire.
<br />6) Council has also been given a passout with respect to the "WE CARE" Program
<br />being initiated for all city employees, members of council, boards and commissions
<br />as well as their families. This program is a wellness and exercise program and
<br />offers a 207 discount on certain Rec Complex activities. It is hoped that the
<br />program will be in place in May; Recreation Commission has approved it.
<br />7) Construction will begin on April 14th on Elder, Magnolia, Spruce, Aspen, Holly,
<br />Cypress and Maplehurst; traff is will be maintained.
<br />8) An additional $321 was delivered by Scott Kacirek for the Marathon Recreation
<br />Fund, which now totals $1,322.27.
