MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
JUNE. 7, 1988
Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen
Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky.
Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance
Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell.
Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M., in Council
Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Minutes of the Council Meeting of May 17, 1988, were approved.
President Saringer announced: 1) Ordinance Nos. 88-54 and 88-55 have been re-
moved from the agenda this evening after receiving a memo from Safety Director
Becker and Captain Krynak with respect to this legislation.
2) Ordinance Nos. 88-71, 88-72, 88-73 and 88-74 have been added to the agenda.
3) Suspension of rule requiring three readings will be requested for Ordinance
Nos. 88-60 and 88-55.
Mayor Petrigac reported; 1) City has received the December 31, 1986 financial
statement from the accounting firm of Arthur Young; there were a few financial
recommendations for the Finance Director.
2) Also, just had the post-audit with RTA for 1987 and for the first time had
no dis-allowances; there were three or four minor recommendations to the Finance
Director for his consideration.
3) Recently had the opportunity to meet with the Realtors' Round Table Associ-
ation at a luncheon. One of the concerns discussed was the need for zero lot
housing, town houses, cluster housing, etc.
4) Attended the opening of Eastbrook Retirement Community in Brookpark which
provides for independent living, semi-independent living and living for those
in need of health care; there is 24 hour medical help available for all. Was
very much impressed; feels a similar establishment would be a definite asset
for North Olmsted.
5) Meeting was held with all the key people involved in the water line; time-
table for the water line was outlined and copies given to council.
6) The Town Club has donated a flag and flag pole to be erected by the Service
Department in North Olmsted Park.
7) The administration has initiated a water ban effective as of 4 P.M. today,
which will prohibit lawn sprinkling, car washing and pool filling.
8) Mary Biemel, former Out Reach Worker at the Senior Center, has died; her
funeral will be tomorrow.
