MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 17, 1988 <br />Present.: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen <br />Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:15 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of May 4, 1988, were approved. <br />President Saringer announced: 1) Ordinance No. 88-60 and Ordinance No. 88-61 <br />have been added to tonight's agenda. <br />2) Suspension of the rule requiring three readings will be requested on Ordin- <br />ance Nos. 88-56, 88-57 and 88-58. <br />3) Introduced Scouter Dave Dillon who presented the Steering Committee for the 1988 <br />All Scouts Weekend: Co-chairpersons Bob Zika and Sharon Black; Secretary, Karen Novak. <br />All Scouts Weekend will be held on June 3rd, 4th and 5th; Mock Council Meeting will <br />be held on Saturday, June 4th, at 9 A.M. in Council Chambers; requested all council <br />members to be in attendance at 8:45 A.M., as well as the administrative counterparts. <br />The following Honorary Officials were introduced and recognized by council: <br />Law Director and Finance Director - Craig Hatfield; Ward 4 Councilwoman - Anita Plantnei <br />Ward 3 Councilman - Steve Smith; Ward 2 Councilman -Dan Button; Ward 1 Councilwoman - <br />Kimberly Ries; Councilwoman-at-Large - Christine Ries; Councilman-at-Large Jeff Kohl; <br />Councilman-at-Large - Don Jessie, Jr.; President of Council - John Wurz; Mayoress - <br />Renee Schramm; Mayor - Bert Ainsworth. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) Revenue from the income tax, for the month of April, <br />is a little lower than anticipated and will bear watching the rest of the year. <br />2) Wednesday, May 18th, is Transit Appreciation Day; City Hall will be spotlighting <br />the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line. RTA will be hiring approximately fifty college <br />students within the next several weeks to perform Spring cleaning duties. The pay is <br />$5.00 per hour for a maximum of 1,500 hours; if anyone is interested in applying, <br />please contact RTA. <br />3) Students will also be employed by the County Engineer's office to take traffic <br />counts at various intersections; the program will begin about mid-June and take <br />approximately ten weeks to complete. <br />4) Recently attended the conference sponsored by Congressman Edward Feighan in <br />Washington; it was an excellent conference with eleven. speakers talking on eleven <br />different subjects, all of which impact on this community. It was rewarding to <br />meet such people as Senators Glenn and Metzenbaum, Congressman Stokes, Repre- <br />sentative Don Pease, Commissioner Tim Hagan, Cuyahoga County Commissioner Virgil <br />Brown, National Police Commissioner Patrick Murphy,. as well as representatives <br />from Ohio Be11, East Ohio Gas, Forest City Enterprises and many other major <br />corporations. <br /> <br />
