MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 5, 1988 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen <br />Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Finance Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of <br />Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of regular Council Meeting of February 2, 1988, were approved. <br />Minutes of regular Council Meeting of February 16, 1988, were approved. <br />Minutes of special Council Meeting of February 24, 1988, were approved. <br />Minutes of regular Council Meeting of March 1, 1988, were approved. <br />Minutes of regular Council Meeting of March 15, 1988, were approved. <br />Minutes of special Council Meeting of March 29, 1988, were approved. <br />President Saringer welcomed Boy Scout Troop No. 204, and their Scout Leader, <br />John Sutter, to tonight's meeting. <br />President Saringer announced that Lorain Journal reporter, Greg Thomas, will <br />be leaving the area to go to New Orleans; he certainly will be missed. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: l) Last week, Great Northern's security team was <br />awarded the Outstanding Crime Prevention Program Award. This award was made <br />possible by the outstanding cooperation between the security team and the <br />North Olmsted Police Department. <br />2) Law Director Gareau, Service Director Noble and Mayor met with Dennis Rademaker <br />to discuss workmens' compensation claims. Mr. Rademaker will be presenting the <br />scope and cost of this service; in the interim, he has been asked to pursue one <br />or two of the larger claims. <br />3) The Board of Control met on March 30th to.discuss bids for leasing and/or <br />purchase of eight police cars; there were five bids to lease and three bids to <br />purchase. After a great deal of discussion, by a vote of six to one, it was <br />decided to lease cars. The second lowest bid, $57.97 per month over the next <br />thirty-six months, was accepted from Great Northern Dodge, because of easy <br />accessibility for service, <br />4) Under audience participation at the March 15th Council Meeting, Mr. Kostrek <br />made several complaints against the North Olmsted Police Department. Upon in- <br />vestigation, the allegations were found to have no merit; Mayor is completely <br />satisfied that Police Department personnel conducted themselves according to the <br />rigid standards of law enforcement and no further action is necessary. <br />5) Resurfacing of Columbia Road will begin the third week in April. <br />6) Around May 22nd, hospitalization rates will increase 25~; city will need <br />approximately $80,000 to cover this account. Budget and Management Director <br />Cunningham is looking into self-insurance for possible consideration by council. <br /> <br />
