Council Minutes of 1012190
Audience Participation~Continued)
Jim aG~ter, 3~~~ Walter Roan, a~ressed Mr. Tallon on Ordinance 90-91--
specifically the longevity section. It is his feeling that xzo part-time
employee should be considered for credit for longevity. IIe wants to
know the thoughts of the Finance Committee on this matter.
Mr. Tallon responded that the Ordinance was reviewed and a formula is
being developed to allow compensaticxi for elected public officials.
When finalized, it will be put in ordinance form.
Paul Barker, 23629 Carriage Lane, asked the Mayor if he had knowledge of
County plans to put in a western entrance and exit at I-480 and./or at I-
90.
Mayor Boyle responded he was not aware of plans for I-90, but I-480 was
under study. The County is studying a full interchange at Clague and
Brookpark and a revamping of the interchange of 480 and Great Northern
Blvd. We have strongly objected to an idea to put a small interchange
at Columbia and 480. The engineering firm of Howard Needles and
Associates is in the process of studying methods of designing a four~way
interchange at Clague.
Mr. Barker expressed concern that residents living on side streets off
of Clague Road would not receive notice about public meetings.
Mayor Boyle assured him that it was the intention of the City to notify
everyone who might be affected. Notice may either be given through
mailings or newspaper releases.
Mrs. Saringer noted that when I-480 was planned, an interchange at
Clague Road was opposed; she wonders why the City is pursuing this when
residents are still opposed.
Mayor Boyle said the requested traffic counts from NOACA will help us
justify this need. We feel that an interchange will not only relieve
our problems with Clague Road but will also help the City of Fairview
Park.
John Maloney, 24782 Arlington Lane, addressed Ordinance 90-127 which
establishes the portion of Columbia Road between Lorain and Brookpark as
a truck route. Because of the considerable traffic north and southbound
on Columbia Road, he and other residents feel there is a definite need
for left turn arrows at that interchange. Also, if this is opened up to
truck traffic, he feels the State should pay for maintenance.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance No. 90-121 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its second
reading. An ordinance to amend Sections 911.03, 911.08, 911.12, 911.14,
and 911.99 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted.
Ordinance No.90-122 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its second
reading. An ordinance to amend Sections 917.02, 917.04 and 917.05 of
the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio.
4
