Council Minutes of 06-21-2011 <br /> <br />• The State has made $25 million worth of emergency financing available to assist <br />small businesses, farms and homes that were damaged by the severe weather this <br />year. Homeowners who have suffered severe damage or loss as a result of the <br />2011 flooding and severe weather will be eligible for a three percent rate <br />reduction on a construction loan of up to $400,000 for aone-year period. A link <br />to information relating to the State's Renew & Rebuilt program can be found on <br />the City's website. <br />• The city's 2011 street resurfacing program will begin this week. Residents on <br />affected streets will be receiving construction notices from sSpecialized <br />Construction in advance of any work. <br />• Come to Frostville this Sunday, June 26 for Bluegrass and Baseball. Starting at <br />11:00 am there will be a double header of baseball the way it was played in the <br />1860's with a bluegrass concert between games. Admission is free. <br />• The city reached an agreement with AFSCME Service. The city met with <br />AFSCME Clerical & Technical on June 8~' - no agreement was reached - <br />tentatively plan to reconvene in late July. IAFF cancelled the session scheduled <br />for June 15 and rescheduled for July 7. <br />• The record spring rains have cause golf revenues to be down approx. $80,000 <br />through May. The expenditure line items will be adjusted accordingly to attempt <br />to balance as the season progresses. <br />• Ballroom revenues are at projection and should end the year at or above our <br />projection of $445,000.00. Wedding bookings for 2012 continue to be signed and <br />next year should be comparable to this. <br />• The parking lot resurfacing project is near completion. The lights for the poles <br />are on order and should be installed in the next few weeks. <br />• He has introduced legislation for the renovation of the sand traps and greens <br />drainage for Springvale Golf Course, and should be ready to go out to bid soon. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• North Olmsted Town Center has dismissed its administrative appeal of a BZA <br />ruling that took place in May. <br />• Andrew Mazzolla has dismissed his claims against the city for alleged misuse of a <br />police Taser. <br />• There is a pretrial scheduled for July 26, 2011 for Megan Frenz vs. Springvale <br />Ballroom. This is a slip and fall case. <br />• The matter of Stofko vs. Scott has been dismissed effective May 7, 2011. This <br />was a claim that related to a neighbor dispute that involved the City of North <br />Olmsted. <br />• On June 8, 2011 he worked on labor negotiations for AFSCME Service. An <br />agreement was reached. Negotiations with AFSCME Clerical/Tech continue. He <br />will also be participating in the IAFF negotiations. <br />• He prepared an audit of cases where the city has liability potentially in excess of <br />$25,000. <br />• One new complaint was referred to the Law Dept. for prosecution -the giant <br />mobile Harry Buffalo sign located on Great Northern Blvd. That is not a legal <br />2 <br />._ ,- ~. - <br />,- <br />
