Council Minutes of 02-21-2012 <br />Councilman Schumann took a moment of personal privilege to announce that March 4, <br />11 and 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is the Pancake Breakfast at Frostville. <br />Councilman Mahoney, Chairman of the Building, Zoning & Development Committee: <br />The BZD Committee met Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 7:20 p.m. Present were <br />committee members Mahoney, Kearney & Barker; Council President Limpert; Council <br />members Brossard, Orlowski, Schumann and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy and <br />Planning/Development Director Wenger. <br />• Discussed was CMS11-25 Burlington Coat Factory -The applicant is asking to <br />make facade renovations and site improvements. This is being proposed at the <br />old Steve & Barry's site, formally Kronheim's. It has been most recently used as <br />a Halloween store. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of CMS 11- <br />25 Burlington Coat Factory. <br />Councilman Mahoney made a motion to approve CMS11-25 Burlington Coat Factory. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. CMS11-25 <br />Burlington Coat Factory approved. <br />Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health & Welfare <br />Committee: <br />The Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee met Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 7:01 <br />p.m. Present were committee members Williamson and Schumann; Council President <br />Limpert; Council members Barker, Brossard, Kearney and Orlowski; Finance Director <br />Copfer, Safety/Service Director Thomas and guests <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2012-9 which is a Resolution authorizing the Director <br />of Public Safety to apply for staffing for adequate Fire and Emergency Response <br />(SAFER) Grant funding from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and further authorizing the Mayor to <br />accept said grant if awarded and execute a contract with FEMA, and declaring an <br />emergency. The committee voted 2-0 to recommend approval of Resolution <br />2012-9 with suspension of the rule requiring three readings. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />John (last name not audible), 7452 Willow Woods Drive commented on Ordinance 2012- <br />5. He feels the change in the language is very discriminatory towards himself and his <br />neighbors. He and his neighbors pay taxes and take care of their streets which saves the <br />city money. He asked Council what the basis of their discrimination is. Mayor Kennedy <br />said under the current Ordinances, they need to bring their garbage to the right-of--way if <br />they live on private streets.
