MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />OCTOBER 19, 1993 <br />Present: Council President Boehaner, Council Members Babas, Leonard, Lind, <br />McKay, Nashar <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen <br />Absent: Council Members Beringer ark Musial <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />A moment of silent prayer was observed in memory of former Mayor Ralph Christman. <br />The minutes of the meeting of October 5, 1993 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance 93-136 would be added to the agenda <br />and passed an suspension and Ordinance 93-133 would also be passed on suspension. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) At last week's Planning Commission meeting, Wal--Mart <br />asked for a postpe*~~nt of their plans for the SYierwin Williams site. Wal--Mart <br />will return to the Planning Commission at the November 23 meeting. Heccaii.ise of <br />discussions with public officials arxi residents, they are looking at alternate <br />sites. <br />2) We are currently negotiating with Cuyahoga County with regard to the sewer <br />agreeme-zt that services part of Olmsted Township. The contract is amen3ed yearly <br />so that the flow received from the Township will rat adversely im~x:,ct the city <br />and development w=ithin the city. <br />3) Along with Service Director Bo~ln~aruz, met with the architect for the senior <br />housing complex. We have received some very early demographic input fran the <br />Danter Corporation; hopefully, full information will be available by the <br />begirming of next month. <br />4) The option on the property for the possible location of the senior housing <br />complex has been extended through December. <br />5) The Board of Control met to discuss the renovation of the parking lot and the <br />drainage at the Recreation Center. <br />6) The meeting with the south Stearns Road residents was productive. The <br />residents presented questions and suggestions, and. this information was taken <br />back to the County Engineer's office by Mr. Gallito. It was determined that the <br />engineer had erred on the statistics with regard to truck traffic. The County <br />Engineer's office thought the 1~ truck traffic on Stearns Road would follow over <br />the next 20 years. However, residents and city officials explained that the <br />truck traffic would increase. Mr. Gallito agreed to look at this issue again and <br />do further traffic counts. This could possibly change some of the plans. Another <br />area of discussion was the method of land acquisition.
