,~ <br />MINUTJES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 1, 1994 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Limpert, Lind, <br />McKay, Nashar, Beringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen <br />Absent: Council Member Musial <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chaffers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of February 15, 1994, were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special meeting of February 16, 1994, were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that the following ordinances would be passed under <br />su~ension ofthe rules: 94-32, 94-33, 94-34, 94-49, 94-50, 94-51, 94-52, 94-53. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Fire Chief Roger Osterhouse presented the Mayor with a <br />$1,000 check from the Northeast Ohio Aluminum Cans for Burned Children Foundation. <br />The money will be used for the Fire Department's smoke detector program, <br />2) Along with Safety Director Lundy, Service Director Bohlmann, Fire Chief Osterhouse, <br />Assistant Chief Smith, and City Engineer Deichmann, the Mayor met with Dixon and <br />Associates Architects to review plans for the new fire station. The footprint of the <br />building and surface and con ruction materials were discussed. The plans will be <br />presented to City Council in the near future. <br />3) With regard to senior housing, the city has begun meeting with various management <br />companies. Service Director Bohlmann met with the architect last week to review other <br />projects to obtain construction and design ideas. Also, Senior Center Administrator Tina <br />HIavaty and a committee of seniors have been touring other senior housing facilities. <br />4) Met with Human Resources Director Copeland and Recreation Commissioner Fattlar <br />on the CDBG grants. The city is applying for funds to remove handicap barriers within <br />our Recreation Center and parks. <br />5) Chris Allegra, YDP Coordinator, will be accepting applications for the summer youth <br />employment and training program. Students must be between the ages of 14 and 21 and <br />qualify under low income standards.
