<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />FEBRUARY 1, 1994 <br />Present: Council President Pro Tem Lind, Council Members Babas, Limpert, <br />McKay, Mu.sial, Nashar <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen <br />Absent: Council President Boehmer, Council Member Beringer <br />Council President Pro Tem Lind called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. in <br />Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of January 18, 1994 were approved as written. <br />President Pro Tem Lind announced that Ordinance No. 94-12 would be removed from <br />the agenda and Ordinance Nos. 94-6 and 94-17 would be passed under suspension of <br />the rule. <br />Mr. Lind welcomed Jose Azpitarte, a Spanish foreign exchange student, who is <br />staying in North Olmsted with the Belko family. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Through the efforts of Chief Osterhouse and Fire- <br />fighters Union Local 1267, the Northeast Ohio Aluminum Cans for Burned Children <br />Foundation will award North Olmsted $1,000 for the smoke detector program. <br />2) The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Committee met in North Olmsted last night to <br />discuss the new county plan. <br />3) Last week attended the U. S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D. C. Major <br />topics were as follows: the State of the Union address; the Crime Bill and <br />violence involving children; health care. The mayors were given the opportunity <br />to question and discuss various topics with numerous Cabinet members, vrxier- <br />secretaries and the President and Vice-President. <br />4) The worksheets for the yearly appropriations have been completed with some <br />adjustments due to costs relating to the recent inclement weather. Accordingly, <br />there will be some changes to the appropriations legislation. There will also be <br />changes made to the organizational chart legislation. All changes will be <br />discussed at the next Finance Committee meeting. <br />5) Tomorrow will travel to Columbus to meet with House Speaker Riffe about the <br />enterprise zone legislation. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Last Friday the final pre-trial was held on the <br />Eliza Jennings case, and the City of North Olmsted has been granted summary <br />judgment in the amount of $106,000. <br />2) On tonight's agenda is Ordinance No. 94-21 which will begin the appropriation <br />'~"" process for acquisition of the property on which the new senior center will be <br />"~''" built. Negotiations have been on-going for four or five months on the purchase <br /> <br />
