'I7te motion was seconded by Mr. N <br />Mr. McKay asked for. an e:~planatitm from lt~r. Musial, and a lengthy discussian eyed. <br />Mr. Musial commented that he warttod to look fittther at the ems dad crams of coh <br />D of the response given to Council by Mr. Burns with regard to Mr. Mooney's i~quirs. <br />Mr. Musial said he felt more information would mow Council to develop same <br />intelligence so that internal controls could be put m place to pride a situation from <br />occurring in the future. Mr. May comn~ted that he agre~xl "'that thus situatia~ ahould <br />be prevented from occun~g m the firtuare. However, it was .his unde7~g that <br />Council had made a co t to the Aecbit©r of State to pass this le ' ' n so tbEat the <br />audit could go forward; he does not wish to go back on his word. Mr. Musial said he felt <br />that at this particular point in time it would be desirable to get sow reasons behind the <br />adjustments that were made. Mr. Lmd statexl that at its last ' g the Finaa~ce <br />Committee had made a comnmt to approve this legi~ation based on f~trthex <br />information to be received from Mr. Burns. Passage of the legislation does not preclude <br />Council from receiving fiuthet information. Also, it would be eafttemely expensive to try <br />to reconstruct everything that happeated. Mr. Lind said. he feh Council should go forward <br />from this point and make a much stronger, concerted e~oit to require things be done m a <br />more timely and more accurate fashion. He said that hoklimg back on passage of the <br />legislation would put the city in a fiuthe~r bad light with the State Auditor. Mr. McKay <br />stated it was his understanding that the State Auditor had been promised the Lion <br />would be passed by January 1. Mr. Musial said he was not certain that species agreement <br />had been made. At the commaittee rye, he had voted in favor of it providing Mr. <br />Burns supplied him with information with which he was satisfied. At prey , he is not <br />satisfied and would like finer information on the debits and crexlhs of cohu~ D. Mr. <br />Miller recommended that in the future Council ask specific questions ~d set specifitc <br />deadlines. He said he felt Council should act according to th+cir word.
