<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FEBRUARY 21,1995 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer; Council Members Limpert, Lmd, McKay, <br />Musial, Naar, Saringer. Newly appointed Council Member Miller <br />took his seat at 8:25 p.m. <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of February 7, 1995 were approved as written. <br />Mrs. Saringer moved to amend the agenda to consider nominations for the vacant Council <br />seat; second by Mr. McKay; motion passed unanimously. President Boehmer opened the <br />floor for nominations. Mrs. Saringer nominated Mr. Paul Miller. Mr. Limpert nominated <br />Mr. Martin Mooney. Mr. Musial nominated Mrs. Mary Smith. Mr. McKay moved that <br />nominations be closed; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. Roll call on <br />the nominations: Limpert, Mr. Mooney; Lind, Mr. Miller; McKay, Mr. Miller; Musial, <br />Mrs. Smith; Nashar, Mr. Miller; Saringer, Mr. Miller. Mr. Paul Miller received four votes, <br />Mr. Martin Mooney received one vote and Mrs. Mary Smith received one vote. Mr. <br />Miller received the appointment as Council Member at Large. Mrs. Saringer moved that <br />Council take a short recess; second by Mr. McKay; motion passed unanimously. Council <br />recessed at 8:10 p.m. and reconvened at 8:20 p.m. Mayor Boyle administered the oath of <br />office to Mr. Miller. Mr. Miller received the congratulations of all present and took his <br />seat at the podium <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) Mr. Paul Miller has submitted his resignation from the Planning <br />Commission. <br />2) The new Recreation Commissioner has been chosen, and the name will be announced <br />next week after all the applicants are notified. <br />3) Congress is currently considering a new crime bill, H. R 728, which will replace the <br />police hiring programs and repeal all of the prevention programs of last year's crime bill. <br />This new bill establishes a law enforcement block grant which would go directly to local <br />governments, provided that the grant exceeds $10,000 and is not opposed by the governor <br />~. ~- ....:; Ynutp+~i</;YG,n.:~nye'~ae~AtgRMtrotlM:,az.T~1'.Ygb:MBAYNSF!~' -N-, a.T~.... ..:..... ...,. <br />
