MINi1TES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 17, 1995 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Limpert, Lmd, <br />McKay, Musial, Nashar, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk <br />of Council Semen <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:14 p.m in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of January 3, 1995 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Resolution Nos. 95-8 and 95-9 would be added to the <br />agenda. Council Member Bahas will be resigning as of January 27, 1995. Anyone who is <br />interested in applying for the position of Council-at-Large should submit a letter and a <br />resume to the Clerk of Council. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) A Charter Review Commission will be established this year. The <br />commission will consist of nine qualified electors holding no other office or appointment in <br />the city. The Mayor hopes to appoint individuals who are non-politically motivated, who <br />represent all four Wards and who reflect the divergent aspects of the city's population. <br />Recommendations from Council and citizens are welcome. The commission will have nine <br />calendar months to formulate and recommend alterations, revisions or amendments to the <br />City Charter. These changes will then be put into legislative form and presented to the <br />voters for consideration. <br />2) There are a few openings on boards and commissions, and the Mayor will endeavor to <br />fill these positions so that all Wards are represented. For example, with the expiration of <br />Mr. Orlowski's term on the Planning Commission, there is no representative from <br />Ward N to that body. Recommendations are welcome. <br />3) On Monday, January 9, the first D.A.RE. class from Pine Elementary School was <br />graduated. The fifth grade students completed a 17-week course conducted by Officer <br />Glen Adamson. On Tuesday and Wednesday, classes from Spruce School, Maple School, <br />and St. Richard's School were also graduated. Comments from students and parents <br />indicate that the program is successful. Officer Adamson will conduct classes in the four <br />y~ remaining elementary schools during the second 17-week school session. <br />
