MINi1TES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
JANUARY 17, 1995
Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Limpert, Lmd,
McKay, Musial, Nashar, Saringer
Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk
of Council Semen
Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:14 p.m in Council Chambers,
5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
to the Flag.
The minutes of the meeting of January 3, 1995 were approved as written.
President Boehmer announced that Resolution Nos. 95-8 and 95-9 would be added to the
agenda. Council Member Bahas will be resigning as of January 27, 1995. Anyone who is
interested in applying for the position of Council-at-Large should submit a letter and a
resume to the Clerk of Council.
REPORTS
Mayor Boyle: 1) A Charter Review Commission will be established this year. The
commission will consist of nine qualified electors holding no other office or appointment in
the city. The Mayor hopes to appoint individuals who are non-politically motivated, who
represent all four Wards and who reflect the divergent aspects of the city's population.
Recommendations from Council and citizens are welcome. The commission will have nine
calendar months to formulate and recommend alterations, revisions or amendments to the
City Charter. These changes will then be put into legislative form and presented to the
voters for consideration.
2) There are a few openings on boards and commissions, and the Mayor will endeavor to
fill these positions so that all Wards are represented. For example, with the expiration of
Mr. Orlowski's term on the Planning Commission, there is no representative from
Ward N to that body. Recommendations are welcome.
3) On Monday, January 9, the first D.A.RE. class from Pine Elementary School was
graduated. The fifth grade students completed a 17-week course conducted by Officer
Glen Adamson. On Tuesday and Wednesday, classes from Spruce School, Maple School,
and St. Richard's School were also graduated. Comments from students and parents
indicate that the program is successful. Officer Adamson will conduct classes in the four
y~ remaining elementary schools during the second 17-week school session.
