r' <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 7, 1996 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Semen <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the special Council meeting of April 15 <br />1996; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of April 16, 1996; <br />second by Mr. O'Grady; motion passed unanimously. <br />President Boehmer announced that Resolution 96-85 and Ordinance 96-86 would be <br />added to the agenda and voted on under suspension of the rules. Also, special Council <br />meetings would be held at 6:30 p.m on Wednesday, May 8, and Thursday, May 9. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) Ameritech has paid $7,000 to the city as reimbursement for the time <br />spent by city administrators during negotiations. <br />2) A meeting was held with the representatives of Steiger, Hurray & Associates to work <br />out the problems with the report regarding radio communications. Unfortunately, the <br />situation could not be resolved. The city will not pay the remainder of the contract. <br />3) On Monday, May 6, a new police officer was sworn in. This will bring us up to full <br />complement. The officer will attend training sessions at the University of Akron. The <br />officer sworn in last month is receiving training at the Shaker Heights Police Department. <br />In past years, officers were sent to Cohunbus for training. However, these two local <br />programs have been found to be of very high quality, and these locations are more <br />convenient for the officers and more cost effective for the city. <br />4) Two Community Policing meetings were recently held at Springvale and the Senior <br />Center. The program will continue with a meeting on May 13 regarding home safety and <br />on May 22 regardmg mall and parking lot safety.
