MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />,.~ <br />~,~; OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />OCTOBER 7, 1997 <br />Present: Council President Pro Tem Saringer, Council Members Limpert, Musial, <br />Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Lind and McKay <br />Council President Pro Tem Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 16, 1997 were approved as written. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle recognized a number of businesses that helped the residents of King's Path <br />Condominiums during the fire that occurred there recently. The proclamations presented <br />thanked the businesses for responding so rapidly with charity to care for the individuals in <br />need of assistance. Their efforts, which help define North Olmsted as a community and <br />nat just a geographic border, were appreciated by the King's Path residents, the city safety <br />forces and the city as a whole. The following businesses were presented with <br />proclamations: Bruegger's Bagels, Lakewood Hospital Pharmacy, North Olmsted Eagle <br />Boosters, Red Robin Restaurant, Bakeria, Rini Rego, Great Northern Mall Security, <br />American Red Cross, Tony Roma's, McDonald's, Ponderosa, Marc's Pharmacy. The <br />following businesses were not represented but will also receive proclamations: AirTouch <br />Cellular, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Burger King, Applebee's, Bob Evans, Chuck-E-Cheese, <br />Fragapane's and Drug Mart Pharmacy. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) Since the last Council meeting, a hearing was held in federal <br />court before Judge Oliver. This hearing was supposed to be a preliminary injunction <br />hearing with respect to asking the court to prohibit the City of North Olmsted from <br />permitting Mr. Moran to occupy his premises on Dover Center Road with 16 residents. <br />Although there were a number of city officials present and prepared to testify, the judge <br />was insistent in not going forward with that preliminary injunction hearing simply because <br />there were a number of issues that had not been stipulated. However, the Building <br />Commissioner and Fire Chief were allowed to discuss issues with respect to what is <br />needed for inspections. We are working toward stipulations and also having the <br />inspections--realizing that because of the use, Mr. Moran will not qualify with respect to <br />-~, ,, , <br />
