MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />~.~. <br />,o~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 19, 1997 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, McKay, Musial, <br />Nashar, O'Grady, Beringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Semen <br />Absent: Council Member Lind <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of August 5,1997 as <br />written; second by Mr. O'Grady; motion passed unanimously. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinances 97-70 and 97-52 would be passed under <br />suspension of the rule. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) A proclamation and Key to the City were presented to Robert Wendt <br />who was chosen by Community Council as the 1997 North Olmsted Citizen of the Year. <br />Mr. Wendt is an active member of the local AARP, past-president of the Kiwanis Club, a <br />former member and chairperson of the Civil Service Commission. He has also been an <br />active volunteer with the Boy Scouts serving as District Commissioner in the Thunderbird <br />District where he received the Silver Beaver Award in 1976. Mr. Wendt has been a <br />teacher, guidance counselor and high school principal in the Cleveland School District. In <br />1987, he received a lifetime membership to the PTA. Mr. Wendt thanked the Mayor and <br />the city for the honor and said that he enjoyed being a volunteer. Mr. Wendt was <br />recognized by all present. <br />2) Over the past six or seven years, our economic development efforts have brought <br />several hundred jobs to our community, provided additional revenues to the city and <br />schools, increased property values and helped stabilize the city economy. All this was <br />accomplished with a small, erratically funded budget. It is now time to address this fact <br />and create a designated revenue source. Ordinances 97-74 and 97-75 are being <br />introduced for this purpose. Ordinance 97-74 designates a portion of all revenues derived <br />from commercial antennas into the Economic Development Fund. This revenue was <br /> <br />
