Also, this is the 125th year of celebrating Arbor Day. Bill Prest, our golf course
supervisor, is developing a joint program with Spruce Elementary School to create
certified Audubon sites at both Springvale and Spruce Elementary. At the middle school,
Mr. Prest has coordinated a program to help students construct various types of bird
houses. Tomorrow Mr. Prest will host a tour of Springvale for the Spruce Elementary
third graders so that they can learn more about the preservation of wildlife in open areas
and open urban areas. Council Members are welcome to attend.
2) Part of the new Zoning Code passed by City Council several years ago calls for the
elimination of pole signs and requires businesses to use ground signs beginning January 1,
1998. It would probably be a good idea to send a letter to all businesses reminding them
that this requirement will go into effect next January.
3) The city has been advised by NOACA that they have approved a resolution
incorporating the Cedar Point Road project into their Transportation Improvement
Program (TIP) for fiscal year 1997. This project will be a repair and resurfacing of Cedar
Point Road in North Olmsted and Brook Park and includes a bike path.
