Council Minutes of 1/7/97
Mayor Boyle added the following to his report: 1) Crain's Cleveland Business reported
that Nicole Nashar, Councilman Nashar's daughter, was promoted to marketing director
at Grant Thornton. Mr. and Mrs. Nashar are very proud of her accomplishments as she is
the youngest person to hold this position in the company's history.
2) Ordinance 97-4 will provide for an agreement to share income taxes with the school
district on the Harsax development in the industrial park which is receiving tax abatement.
This was scrutinized by the Tax Incentive Review Council and received unanimous
support. One of the problems that schools have with financing is that there is no inflation
guard associated with levies. So a few years ago, starting with the Moen project, the city
decided to do something about that so that the city and the school board would always
move forward.
Mr. Nashar moved to excuse the absence of Mr. Lind and Mr. Musial; second by Mr.
O'Grady; motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Nashar nominated Mrs. Saringer to serve as President Pro Tem for 1997. Mr.
O'Grady nominated Mr. Limpert. Mr. Limpert nominated Mr. O'Grady. A discussion
ensued on the proper method of voting. It was decided that at the call of the roll each
member would state the name of the person they want elected to the position. Roll call:
Mrs. Saringer responded Saringer; Mr. O'Grady responded Saringer; Mr. Nashar
responded Saringer; Mr. McKay responded Saringer; Mr. Limpert responded Saringer.
Mrs. Saringer was unanimously elected as the 1997 President Pro Tem. Mrs. Saringer
thanked the members of Council.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Boehmer adjourned the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
Barbara L.
