MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ».~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AUGUST 4, 1998 Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. President Saringer announced that Ordinance No. 98-84 would be passed under suspension of the rule. Councilman Gareau made a motion to remove Ordinance No. 98-36 from the agenda and refer it back to committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Nashar and unanimously approved. The minutes of the following meetings were approved as written: June 2, 1998; special meeting of June 8, 1998; special meeting of June 9, 1998; special meeting of June 10, 1998; June 16, 1998; special meeting of July 4, 1998. REPORTS Mayor Musial: 1) The Police Department has a new piece of equipment called a speed travel unit. It is mounted on a trailer and locked in place and has an alarm system. This speed indicator has been set up on various streets so that drivers can be made aware of their speed. Also the unit is computerized and can be used to chart the number of cars passing by, the speed and the time. The Police Department will be able to use the information to determine critical locations for the placement of cruisers to monitor traffic. 2) A new policeman was sworn in yesterday. Officer Manuel Roman is a former Lorain Correction Institute officer. 3) The North Olmsted Firefighters held their annual Cruise-in at the Water Tower Square parking lot on July 22 and raised about $3,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. 4) Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Charles Riske for the donation of a Pro Life Treadmill to the Fire Department. 5) The fall-winter Recreation brochure is being compiled and will hopefully be completed :~.. in time for distribution at Homecoming. ,Q„ ~,:. _ . ., .~ .,~,.K,~.~ :._, , . ~ ..~. ... , . , _ . ,.
