MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />».~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 4, 1998 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />President Saringer announced that Ordinance No. 98-84 would be passed under <br />suspension of the rule. <br />Councilman Gareau made a motion to remove Ordinance No. 98-36 from the agenda and <br />refer it back to committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Nashar and unanimously <br />approved. <br />The minutes of the following meetings were approved as written: June 2, 1998; special <br />meeting of June 8, 1998; special meeting of June 9, 1998; special meeting of June 10, <br />1998; June 16, 1998; special meeting of July 4, 1998. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) The Police Department has a new piece of equipment called a speed <br />travel unit. It is mounted on a trailer and locked in place and has an alarm system. This <br />speed indicator has been set up on various streets so that drivers can be made aware of <br />their speed. Also the unit is computerized and can be used to chart the number of cars <br />passing by, the speed and the time. The Police Department will be able to use the <br />information to determine critical locations for the placement of cruisers to monitor traffic. <br />2) A new policeman was sworn in yesterday. Officer Manuel Roman is a former Lorain <br />Correction Institute officer. <br />3) The North Olmsted Firefighters held their annual Cruise-in at the Water Tower Square <br />parking lot on July 22 and raised about $3,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. <br />4) Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Charles Riske for the donation of a Pro Life Treadmill to the <br />Fire Department. <br />5) The fall-winter Recreation brochure is being compiled and will hopefully be completed <br />:~.. <br />in time for distribution at Homecoming. <br />,Q„ <br />~,:. _ . ., .~ .,~,.K,~.~ :._, , . ~ ..~. ... , . , _ . ,. <br />
