Council Minutes of 12/7/1999
opinion of the negotiators. But overall, the purchase of Springvale was probably one of
~, r_ the best moves this city has ever done and a lot of the discussions were informal. He
would say this contract, which is only for $300,000, probably had more formal
documentation and more input than that $4.2 million contract.
Mr. Limpert scheduled a meeting of the Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation;
Long-Range Planning Committee for 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, to interview
candidates for appointments to various boards and commissions.
President Saringer noted that Mr. Limpert had mentioned earlier about the possibility of
setting up a meeting to discuss the PLA ordinance. Along discussion ensued as to
whether and/or when a meeting should be set. Mayor Musial recommended, and Council
agreed, that a meeting be set up after the first of the year to which union representatives
would be invited. The Mayor will coordinate between the union representatives and the
formal presentation.
Safety Director Jenkins said he wished to offer a point of clarification. Mr. Miller had
intimated that there were informal negotiations at the bike parade and Fourth of July
picnic. Mr. Miller said that is what Mary Creadon had indicated. Mr. Jenkins responded
that he wanted to clarify for Mr. Miller that Mrs. Creadon had thrown that out that those
were additional events that Coke would like to participate in. There were no negotiations,
talks, discussions or meetings with Coke at the Fourth of July picnic and bike parade.
She was simply indicating that these are additional things we would like to get involved
with. Mr. Miller said that was his recollection at the time it was being discussed: how
the discussions took place, was there anything written. If he is wrong, he certainly would
apologize. He has all the respect in the world for Mr. Jenkins and believes his perception
is probably well founded. However, recollecting the flow of the conversation at the time,
it was indicated to him that the add-on was that there were other discussions held at the
Fourth of July picnic and parade. Mr. Jenkins again said no, and Mr. Miller said, if he is
wrong, he apologizes.
Mr. Nashar reminded everyone to bring their food donations to the next Council meeting
as it would be the last opportunity to donate food for the holiday season.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Saringer adjourned the meeting at 10:10 p.m.
~~ ~ _
Barbara L. Seman, Cl rk of Council J et A. Saringer, Preside of Council
20
