iY.
Council Minutes of 11/16/1999
other discussion while the vote in being taken. She asked Mr. McKay if he was finished
explaining his vote. Mr. McKay said he had another question for the Mayor. He asked
whether any other communities had been investigated with regard to their contracts.
Mayor Musial said yes. Mr. McKay voted yes. Roll call continued: Nashar, yes;
O'Grady... (There was some confusion at this point as to what was occurring. The Clerk
noted that the vote on Mr. Miller's motion to refer the ordinances to the Recreation
Committee was being taken, and Mr. O'Grady had been called for his vote.) Mr.
O'Grady asked for clarification of Mr. McKay's vote. President Saringer said Mr.
McKay's vote was yes. Mr. McKay asked to change his vote to no. Mr. O'Grady voted
no and said he concurred wholeheartedly with the Mayor's comments. He felt the issue
is being politicized and should not be. The motion was approved with four affirmative
votes and three negative votes. President Saringer asked that the committee meeting be
set up as soon as possible so that the legislation will not be delayed any longer.
Mr. O'Grady reported on the "day at the races" fundraising activity held for the
Augustine Rainbow Camp and presented trophies to the winners: in the first race, Came
Copfer's horse "Copfer's Coffers" came in first; in the fifth race, Mayor Musial's horse
"Legal Pleasure" carne in first; in the sixth race Dean McKay's horse "Erin McKay"
came in first.
Mrs. Kasler scheduled a Recreation Committee meeting regarding Ordinances 99-151
and 99-152 for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7. The Safety Director and the Mayor are
asked to attend. She requested that information from other cities with regard to their
contracts be given to Council before the meeting.
President Saringer announced the Tree Lighting Ceremony would be held at 7 p.m. on
Thursday, December 9, and would feature the Spruce School Choir, band members, Santa
Claus and refreshments.
President Saringer announced the swearing-in ceremony for the Council Members at
Large would be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29. Everyone is welcome to
attend.
President Saringer asked what the status of the PLA legislation was. Mr. Limpert said it
had not been established when to have a second follow-up meeting. He will set the
meeting for the near future.
Mrs. Saringer wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Saringer adjourned the meeting at 9:55 p.m.
~, ~.. ~ .
_.
Barbara L.
