MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 3, 1999 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Clerk of Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag as led by Eagle Scout Edward A. Poole. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of June 2, 1999 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of June 15, 1999 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special Council meeting of July 5, 1999 were approved as written. <br />President Saringer made the following announcements: Resolution No. 99-86 will be <br />passed under suspension of the rule; special Council meetings will be held on Thursday, <br />August 5, at 5 p.m. and Tuesday, August 10, at 6:30 p.m. <br />SPECIAL LEGISLATION <br />Resolution No. 99-86 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mr. Gareau on behalf <br />of the Mayor and entire Council. A resolution commending the achievement by Edward <br />A. Poole of the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouting. Mr. Gareau moved for suspension <br />of the rules requiring three readings and committee review; second by Mr. Nashar; <br />motion passed unanimously. Mr. Gareau moved for adoption; second by Mr. Nashar; <br />motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 99-86 adopted. Edward was asked to come <br />forward and Mrs. Saringer read the resolution in its entirety. Edward was congratulated <br />and recognized by members of Council, the administration and all present. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) Jim Nipper and Jim Weir were sworn in as firefighters on July 26. <br />Tom Klecan has been sworn in as the new Assistant Fire Chief. He apologized to <br />Council as they were not apprised of the swearing-in ceremonies. Matt Radke will be <br />sworn in as a firefighter at 9 a.m. on August 9 in Council Chambers. <br />2) The North Olmsted International Association of Firefighters Local 1267 hosted a <br />cruise-in at Water Tower Square to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There <br />was a record number of vehicles and a near record number of people in attendance which <br />raised about $6,500.
