MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AUGUST 3, 1999 Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Clerk of Council Seman Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag as led by Eagle Scout Edward A. Poole. The minutes of the Council meeting of June 2, 1999 were approved as written. The minutes of the Council meeting of June 15, 1999 were approved as written. The minutes of the special Council meeting of July 5, 1999 were approved as written. President Saringer made the following announcements: Resolution No. 99-86 will be passed under suspension of the rule; special Council meetings will be held on Thursday, August 5, at 5 p.m. and Tuesday, August 10, at 6:30 p.m. SPECIAL LEGISLATION Resolution No. 99-86 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mr. Gareau on behalf of the Mayor and entire Council. A resolution commending the achievement by Edward A. Poole of the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouting. Mr. Gareau moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and committee review; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. Mr. Gareau moved for adoption; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 99-86 adopted. Edward was asked to come forward and Mrs. Saringer read the resolution in its entirety. Edward was congratulated and recognized by members of Council, the administration and all present. REPORTS Mayor Musial: 1) Jim Nipper and Jim Weir were sworn in as firefighters on July 26. Tom Klecan has been sworn in as the new Assistant Fire Chief. He apologized to Council as they were not apprised of the swearing-in ceremonies. Matt Radke will be sworn in as a firefighter at 9 a.m. on August 9 in Council Chambers. 2) The North Olmsted International Association of Firefighters Local 1267 hosted a cruise-in at Water Tower Square to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There was a record number of vehicles and a near record number of people in attendance which raised about $6,500.
