MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCII. <br />,:'~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />'~ JULY 18, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Senior Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director <br />Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Finance Director Copfer noted that in her report of May 16, 2000 she had not included <br />Huntington National Bank in the list of banks available to the residents for use in the <br />linked deposit program. The minutes of the Council meeting of May 16, 2000 were <br />approved as corrected. <br />President Saringer announced that City Council would be on vacation during the month <br />of August. Therefore, the following legislation would be passed under suspension of the <br />rules: Bond Ordinance Nos. 2000-84 through and including 2000-92, various pieces of <br />legislation Nos. 2000-93 through and including 2000-99, and Ordinance No. 2000-101. <br />SPECIAL REPORT <br />President Saringer introduced Human Resources Director Don Copeland and commended <br />him for his efforts in directing the S.I.T.E.S. (Social Involvement Through Education and <br />Service) students who compiled a City of North Olmsted elected officials' record. <br />Mr. Copeland explained that Council's ad hoc committee had requested that his office <br />take on the research project of determining the names of elected officials who have <br />served the city from 1950 to the present day. The assignment was given to S.I.T.E. S. <br />students assigned to the Human Resources Department, the Landmarks Commission, the <br />Mayor's office and the Safety Director's office. Tonight is the culmination of that project, <br />and everyone is very pleased to be able to submit the book to Council. Mr. Copeland <br />introduced S.I.T.E.S. student Curtis Baker who was the hard-working and energetic team <br />leader. <br />Curtis Baker noted that the intent of this project as authorized by the North Olmsted City <br />Council was to create a document that not only recognized citizens who were elected to <br />city government from 1950 to the present, but also to be a living, historical record that <br />can be updated yearly. Before this time, all records of North Olmsted's past had been <br />hidden in archive vaults and old City Council minutes. Now the city will have simple <br />
