MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />-~~„ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JULY 5, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer asked for a moment of silence in remembrance of Cleveland Police <br />Officer Leon and his family. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of May 2, 2000 were approved as written. <br />President Saringer announced that the following legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Ordinance 2000-79, Resolutions 2000-80, 2000-82 and 2000-83 . <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) Thank you to the VFW for providing the American Flags that he and <br />Finance Director Copfer were honored to pass out along the parade route during the <br />Fourth of July. The holiday celebration was excellent, and he commended Todd Morgan <br />and his staff for the excellent job. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) Wage negotiations with NOMBL have been postponed, but he <br />and the AFSCME representative have chosen a fact finder. <br />2) The brief in the Parcel E zoning litigation was filed today. <br />3) With regard to the tree removal issue on Parcel E, the Eighth Appellate District has <br />reversed Judge Gravens' decision which had declared our tree ordinance unconstitutional. <br />It made sense to him to resolve all issues and so the defendant, Mr. Biskind and his <br />company, agreed to be restrained from removing any more trees and that, at the same <br />time, the city would have contempt powers available if, in fact, anyone did remove trees <br />without a permit. The city has agreed to dismiss the issue in Rocky River Municipal <br />Court. He felt that settlement was acceptable in light of the status of the evidence relative <br />to the criminal case. <br />.~~> <br />
