MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />`~°" OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />''°~` MAY 2, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />President Saringer announced that the following legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Ordinance 2000-39 and Resolutions 2000-42 and 2000-43. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 21, 2000 were approved as written. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) North Olmsted is at an 81% completion rate for the census. The <br />remaining residences will be contacted by door-to-door representatives. <br />2) This evening, County Treasurer Jim Rokakis spoke during caucus and urged the city to <br />support and pass the linked deposit loan program legislation. This program will enable <br />North Olmsted residents to secure loans from the county at 3 points below the current <br />interest rate. This is important to our residents as the city initiated a property <br />maintenance program last year and residents who have the need to secure loans to <br />improve their property will be able to take advantage of this program. <br />3) Two resolutions will be passed under suspension of the rules this evening: one, to <br />recognize May as Motorcycle Awareness Month; the second, to recognize April 28 as <br />Arbor Day and celebrate the award of Tree City in North Olmsted. <br />4) A swearing-in ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. on May 15 for Jennifer Smith who will <br />be sworn in as a police officer. <br />5) A standing invitation is extended to the community at large to visit Springvale Golf <br />Course during the month of May and view some new projects: tee marker signs which <br />were obtained through a grant from the County Solid Waste Management Recycling <br />District; new sand traps and bunkers; beginning of the parking lot construction which will <br />hopefully be completed within 30 days. <br />6) The spring summer parks and recreation brochure has been mailed out to residents. <br />7) On Saturday, May 6, the Northcoast Invitational Track Meet will be held at North <br />Olmsted High School. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) HUD has officially accepted our fair housing ordinance which <br />makes the city eligible for funding for'HUD projects. North Olmsted is only one of three <br />communities in Cuyahoga County that qualify for HUD funding. <br /> <br />
