Council Minutes of 11/20/2001
Mrs. Kasler said budgetary questions were discussed. In fact, there was a dispute as
to whether it was a budgetary issue, and that will be looked into. However, it is an
administrative issue, and Council fed it right back and asked that the employee group
be given an answer.
• Councilman O'Grady said he wanted to address the issue of a missive coming from
this Council to the Mayor reportedly on behalf of all the members of Council
directing or suggesting to the Mayor he take some action. He has concerns when any
member of Council or the President of Council sends a communique, supposedly on
behalf of all the Council, and Council hasn't even been provided with a copy of that
communique. Two members of Council akeady voiced their concerns that they
wouldn't want to be part of such a message going to the administration. He thinks
that should not have been sent. Mrs. Saringer said the memo was sent from her, but it
entailed the discussion and what the resolution was from the meeting. No one
disagreed with this while the firemen were sitting right there. However, if they so
wish, the record will reflect that Mr. O'Grady, Mr. Dailey and Mr. Limpert want their
names to be deleted from that. Mr. O'Grady said he felt all communiques coming on
behalf of Council should be reviewed by Council. Regarding the news release
relating to the submission of resumes for a vacancy on Council that will occur
January 1, he believes all of Council should be involved in setting the dates.
President Saringer said she had addressed the news release during caucus.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Saringer adjourned the meeting at 9:40 p.m.
.~
~. ~ , ~ Q .
arbara L.
