_ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />OCTOBER 2, 2001 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Dailey, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashaz, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gazeau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Cemer Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer recognized Councilman Nashaz who wished to make a special <br />presentation to Joshua Rowe, a senior at North Olmsted High School, who saved the life <br />of Eddie Woodworth. Councilman Nashaz called Joshua forward and told the story of <br />how on the afternoon of Friday, September 21, Eddie was riding his bicycle and was hit <br />by a vehicle as it was pulling out of a business driveway on Lorain Road. The driver of <br />the car did not realize that Eddie had been hit and that he was being dragged underneath <br />the vehicle. Joshua saw the accident, stopped the driver, and called for help. Several <br />employees from Halleen Chevrolet also saw the accident and brought over floor jacks to <br />help the Fire Department paramedics and Police Department free Eddie from underneath <br />the vehicle. Eddie was hospitalized for several days with injuries and is now using a <br />wheelchair due to a broken leg. Councilman Nashaz congratulated Joshua on his heroism <br />and presented him with a United States Savings Bond. Also, he is asking that Joshua be <br />considered for the Safety Citizen of the Yeaz. Joshua was recognized by all present and <br />received the congratulations of the members of City Council and the administration. <br />Eddie was asked to come forward and he too was greeted by City Council and the <br />administration. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 4, 2001 were approved as written. <br />RE_ <br />Mayor Musial: 1) There have been so many favorable calls regarding the flags on Lorain <br />Road that it has been decided to leave them up for the foreseeable future. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) During caucus, he spoke to Council members regarding the <br />Board of Elections issue. He chazacterized what the Board of Elections is failing to do as <br />being somewhat of a crisis in the City of North Olmsted.
