MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />r OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FEBRUARY 20, 2001 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Dailey, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of February 6, 2001 were approved as written. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) He had hoped to have the appropriations legislation ready to present to <br />Council this evening, but that was not possible. It should be ready sometime this week. <br />2) On Saturday, he attended the Westshore League of Women Voters annual anniversary <br />brunch. North Olmsted resident Lois Van Auken was honored as the Westlake/North <br />Olmsted Woman of the Year. Mrs. Van Auken is a very active member of the League of <br />Women Voters and served as the County League President from 1977 to 1979. <br />3) This Thursday he will attend a meeting of NOPEC to discuss the terms of the contract <br />that was negotiated with Green Mountain Energy for the purchase of electricity for the <br />residents of the communities who are members of NOPEC. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) On February 6, the Law Department prepared and filed with the <br />State Employee Relations Bureau an entry of appearance regarding an unfair labor <br />practice filed by the Fraternal Order of Police charging that the city materially <br />misrepresented at negotiations sessions that all city employees would in the futuxe, as the <br />result of pending legislation, contribute the same amount of health insurance as FOP <br />members were contributing. The Law Department does not believe that it is a valid <br />unfair labor practice and are defending the city in light of that. <br />2) On February 13, Assistant Law Director Dubelko attended a committee meeting to <br />discuss the right-of--way legislation. There has been some communication from Dominion <br />East Ohio regarding that legislation. The Law Department is currently reviewing the <br />legislation and will report to City Council. <br />3) On February 14, he and Assistant Law Director Dubelko attended a meeting with the <br />County Library officials to discuss the status of the city's library project.
