At the last COG meeting, the fue
chiefs made a presentation regarding a single dispatch control unit for the fire and EMS
calls which would be operating out of St. John Hospital. The mayors have elected to
take it under consideration. Our Assistant Chief, Mr. Klecan, was there and participated
in the presentation. He made a presentation to COG concerning a purchasing consortium,
whereby the cities would join together to purchase items such as fuel, crack seal, stone or
any of the items that the cities are currently purchasing individually. It is hoped that
purchasing in a large volume will result in lower prices.
2) As an update on Crocker/Stearns Road, he has been in contact with the office of
Congressman Kucinich regarding the securing of the $4 million garrt to help North
Olmsted participate in the construction of Crocker/Stearns Road. The good news is that
the request by Congressman Kucinich has made it through the committee. It will now
move forward and perhaps be part of the appropriations bill which will be considered
after the election in November. We should have an answer pro or con by the end of the
year.

,m .,.
