Council Minutes of 10/21/2003
12/31/04. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Kasler and passed
unanimously.
The appointment of Menla Mengla of Carriage Lane, North Olmsted, to the Fair
Housing Review Board. Ms. Mengla has a degree from the MCMDAV College for
Women in India, major course of study in English, Economics and Sociology. She
currently works for First Federal of Lakewood, and she has worked at Kaufmann's,
Cinnabon and Rini Rego. Ms. Mengla speaks Hindi. She was very well received,
and her willingness to serve was appreciated by all members. (Ms. Mengla who was
in attendance was asked to stand and be recognized.) Councilman Miller moved that
Council approve the appointment of Menla Mengla to the position on the Fair
Housing Boazd previously occupied by Mr. Spagnuolo for the term of 1/1/02 to
12/31/03. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed
unanimously.
The status of the old library building site and offers for purchase from the school
boazd. Discussion centered around various offers, counter-offers, on-going
discussions that are involving the Mayor and the school board's representative
Superintendent Stanic, the participation of the Law Director and the concern that
there was a lack of a strategic plan for the use of the old library when it has been
known for quite some time that the building would be available. As a result of those
discussions and the on-going status of discussions with the superintendent, he was
advised this evening that there is a new set of numbers being offered and those will be
discussed in a committee meeting which will be set for next week.
2) The committee met again this evening to discuss the appointment of Nicole Dailey
Jones of Windy Hollow Lane, North Olmsted, to the Fair Housing Review Board for term
of 1/1/03 to 12/31/05. Mrs. Jones works for the Cleveland municipal school boazd in the
office of Professional Development. She has worked in Washington with U. S. Senator
Bazbaza Boxer, the Senate Democratic Policy Committee, the O'Brien/Kelly Legislative
Strategy firm in Washington and for Mary Boyle for U. S. Senate here in Cleveland. Her
degree is in Politics and Government and International Studies from Ohio Wesleyan
University. She has vazious experience in local politics including the Ohio Democratic
Party Auction 2000 retreat. (Ms. Jones who was in attendance was asked to stand and be
recognized.) Her willingness to volunteer and serve the city is appreciated. Councilman
Miller moved that Council approve the appointment of Nicole Dailey Jones to the Fair
Housing Review Board for the term of 1/1/03 to 12/31/05. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously.
3) The Mayor has asked that Council reappoint Mr. Tom Hreha to the Planning
Commission for the term which ends December 31, 2003. No interview is necessary as
Mr. Hreha is a prior member who served very well. Councilman Miller moved to
reappoint Tom Hreha to the Planning Commission for the term ending December 31,
2003. The motion was seconded by Councilman Nashaz. Roll call: Miller, yes; Nashar,
yes; McKay, yes; Limpert, yes; Kasler, yes; Gareau, yes with the comment that he knows
Mr. Hreha left the City of North Olmsted for personal reasons, and he may be returning
to remain and live in North Olmsted as he was a resident for quite some time.
