NORTH OLMSTED CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING
APRIL 20, 2004
7 P.M.
Present: President of Council O'Grady, Council Members Dailey, Gareau, Kasler,
Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar
Also Present: Law Director Dubelko, Planning Director Wenger, Clerk of Council Seman
President O'Grady called the public hearing to order at 7:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200
Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
President O'Grady announced that the public hearing was being held with regazd to
Ordinance No. 2004-39 which provides for the amendment of the Zone Map of the City of
North Olmsted by rezoning the rear portion of Permanent Pazcel Nos. 232-34-001, 232-34-
012, 232-34-013, 232-34-014, 232-34-015.
President O'Grady asked the audience members to sign their names, addresses and phone
numbers on the attendance list which was being circulated if they wished to be contacted for
future meetings. The meeting will begin with Councilman Gazeau giving a short overview of
the project, and the rest of the time will be allowed for citizen input.
Councilman Gareau: Thanked the residents for attending and said, as the sponsor of the
legislation, he wished to address two issues. One, to explain what the legislation was and
specifically to explain what it wasn't. He is not sure all the information necessary has gotten
out to the residents. Secondly, he wants to say that there is no formal action to be taken on
this tonight because it's not scheduled for a final vote. On Wednesday, Apri128, at 7 p.m. the
Building, Zoning and Development Committee will meet to discuss this legislation in more
detail. As some people were just recently made aware of this issue through notice of this
public hearing, he would like to give an overview. (Displayed a map and showed the parcel
under consideration. Explained the location of the lots which go across from west to east and
then toward the north and then down towazd Lorain Road. He indicated the pattern of the
zoning designation for a General Business Retail use and indicated the parcels with that
zoning. To the other side, the lots aze zoned residential.) The issue under discussion this
evening concerns a parcel of area where a current Ganley building exists. The property does
not go all the way over to Root Road as there is another property belonging to Dr. Jung next
to it. At the north end, it is three lots wide. There is a wooded area on the north end. The
project itself actually will stop about 300 feet from the back lots of residents on Timber
Cove. There may have been a belief that the project would actually involve cleaning out the
north area. That is not the case as it is actually owned by someone else. So, the distance
between the property and the neighborhood is 300 feet of current forestation which actually
will not be touched during this project. (Showed an overhead view of the properties to give
another perspective.) There is no proposal to take any homes along Ranchview.
