An
ordinance authorizing the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted to enter into a lease
agreement for the Law Department offices at the Community Building for a one or two-
year term commencing on February 1, 2004, and declaring an emergency. Councilman
McKay moved for suspension of the rule requiring three readings. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Nashar and passed unanimously. Councilman McKay moved
for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Nashar. Law Director Dubelko
said he had inquired of the landlord as to the cost difference between atwo-year lease and
a one-year lease with an option for aone-year extension. There is a relatively small
difference of $18 per month. Although it is his preference to have his office in City Hall,
he is not getting any indication from the administration of a plan or ability to house the
Law Department in City Hall any time during the next two years. If Council wants to
explore options and is willing for the city to pay the small additional increase for the
second year, he will go forward on that basis. Councilman Nashar commented that he
had no objection to the two-year lease. Roll call on the motion to adopt Ordinance
No. 2004-9: McKay, yes; Nashar, yes; Dailey, yes; Gareau, yes; Miller, yes. The motion
passed unanimously. Councilman Dailey moved for
suspension of the rule requiring three readings and noted this issue had been discussed in
committee.
