Council Minutes of 5/4/2005
either we do something about the sanitary flow and take action, or we allow that to enter
people's basements. When we get into that shape, we have no choice but to protect our
residents and to pump from the sanitary over to the storm. We must notify the EPA, and
we are fined. Councilman Limpert said he was not sure there was a 'by-pass. Sometimes
pumps are out as a precautionary measure and not turned on.
Don Pangrac, 23470 Sharon Drive. At the last Council meeting, he brought to the
Mayor's attention the branches at the entrance of Sharon Drive, which are unsightly.
They have been there since last November. Mayor O'Grady explained that the chipper
has been doing double duty. During the winter, because of the weight on the trees, there's
a significant build up of cut tree limbs. These come out when people start cleaning their
yards in the spring-they place them on the tree lawns. Because of the significant snow
events recently, employees were taken off the chipper trucks and put on the snow plows.
Once that cleared, they have been out on the chipper trucks again doing double duty.
They are moving from one end of the city to the other and haven't gotten to some places,
but not for lack of effort on the part of the Service Dept. They have been doing a
spectacular job but it is something that's going to take time before we get the whole city
cleaned up. Mr. Pangrac said that the chipper truck had been down his street and drove
right by the pile of branches. Mayor O'Grady said he would look into the matter.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane.
• The State of Ohio has been using the northwest corner of Brookpark and Clague for
storage and equipment for several years, and there is a pile of metal pales there that is
unsightly. They should at least organize it. Perhaps a request should be made of
them to do something at that corner. Mayor O'Grady said the city had in the past
contacted ODOT with regard to their facility there. Not just with regard to storage of
materials, but also with regard to the maintenance of the facility. Councilman McKay
said he has been complaining about that since Ralph Bohlmann was Service Director.
Mr. Bohlmann told him the state doesn't have to listen to the city, but something
should be done about that.
He attended the committee meeting about Social Security and the resolution
presented by Mr. McKay. This social issue has great impact on every resident of this
community, Council would almost be missive in not addressing this matter. If the
federal government wants to do something for the American public and average
working person, they should not worry about Social Security but provide programs
Like the original IRA accounts from which people can benefit. As originally
established, the IRA accounts allowed money to be invested before taxes. He
recommends Council consider this as part of their recommendation in the legislation.
Beth Cunningham, 4014 Fielding Drive, lives in the Canterbury Woods subdivision and
she is concerned about the proposal for an asphalt overlay in her neighborhood. Some
residents had a meeting with Mr. Limpert and the Service Director a few weeks ago to
explain they do not want the asphalt but prefer cement streets as they now have. She
understands there is asphalt overlay in Bretton Ridge and it has only been a few years and
it's falling apart. With asphalt overlays of streets, there are "squiggly lines" that get hot,
sticky and gooey in the summer. Because children play in tie street at times, the
