Special Council Minutes of 9!12/2006 <br />Captain did many of the annual inspections, such as routine maintenance and suppression <br />systems. The problem of continuity between staff may preclude training several <br />individuals to do inspections and plan reviews. The funding of this position will be from <br />the current budget, requiring an internal department transfer. The committee unanimously <br />recommended the adoption of Ordinance 2006-157 as amended, to include a sunset <br />provision of 120 days from date of hire for the position and passage under suspension of <br />the rule. Councilman Orlowski moved that Ordinance No. 2006-157 be amended as <br />discussed in committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed <br />unanimously. Ordinance No. 2006-157 amended. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Ordinance No. 2006-157 introduced by Mayar O'Grady was given its second reading as <br />amended. An ordinance authorizing the Director of Public Safety to appoint a temporary, <br />part-time fire administrator to assist the Fire Chief, establishing a pay range, and <br />declaring an emergency, as amended. Councilman Orlowski moved for suspension of the <br />rule requiring three readings and noted the legislation had been reviewed in committee. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 2006-157 adopted. <br />Councilman Barker made a motion to adjourn into executive session to discuss pending <br />litigation Shelly Co. v. City of North Olmsted. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Gareau. Roll call: Barker, yes; Gareau, yes; Jones, yes; Orlowski, yes; Ryan, no; Tallon, <br />yes. The motion passed with five yes votes and one no vote. <br />Council adjourned into executive session at 6:43 p.m. at the call of President Kennedy. <br />Council reconvened at 7:05 p.m. at the call of President Kennedy. <br />Councilman Barker made a motion to excuse the absence of Councilman Miller.
