Council Minutes of 4/18/2006 <br />4) Tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. the carriage house will be moved off city owned <br />property which will house the new fire station. It will be transported down into the <br />Metroparks where it will be utilized. The Olmsted Historical Society representatives will <br />soon have access to the Stearns home with the intent of disassembling to the greatest <br />extent possible to take lumber out of the home. The lumber will be used to build a <br />schoolhouse at Frostville. <br />5) The city in conjunction with the County Commissioners, Polaris Career Center, N. O. <br />City Schools and Chamber of Commerce will hold a job fair on June 14 at the Church of <br />St. Clarence Hall. Thanks for Fr. Neil Kakoothe for his help. <br />6) With Finance Director, traveled to Chicago for meetings with Moody's and Fitch <br />rating agencies. The favorable result for our city was the result of the improved fiscal <br />controls and management in place in the city. <br />7) The City of North Olmsted was featured in the Plain Dealer Mosaic section They <br />provided great coverage of our city government, recreation assets, our culture and our <br />schools. <br />$) May 2 is primary election day and five Charter amendments will be on the ballot and <br />all are important. <br />9) The Community Life Services Dept. is working with the Fire Dept. to formulate <br />emergency plans for our Senior Center in the event of an emergency. We recently <br />learned of a co-pay relief organization which assists with pharmaceutical co-pays for <br />certain illnesses and treatments. Citizens in need should contact Director Dailey in <br />Community Life Services. <br />10) Human Resources Director Farver will be attending the 2006 SERB academy on <br />April 27 and 28 with the directors of Law, Safety and Service. Topics include dispute <br />settlement procedures and unfair labor practices. <br />11) Information Technology Dept. has assisted the Recreation Dept. in preparing the <br />Recreation software specifications for bidding. <br />12) Planning Dept., the front entrance project went to bid this week and bids are due <br />before the end of April. <br />13) Fire Station bids are anticipated to be out the first week in May. This week, the <br />Historical Society will be going in to do some important preservation work at the site. <br />14) Safety Dept., the Recreation Commission has approved new ranges for the swimming <br />pool. Legislation requesting those will be introduced at the May 3 meeting. <br />15) Service Dept., the Board of Health has cancelled the planned drop of pesticide by <br />helicopter in Bradley Woods. However, they will go through as usual treating standing <br />water in ponds. <br />16} Service Dept. is continuing with full depth repairs in the Canterbury Woods area. A <br />major water line break was located in N. O. Park below a drinking fountain for the <br />baseball diamonds in the southern half of park. Until repair is made, those drinking <br />fountains will be unavailable for use. <br />17) Six firms responded to the RFP for the rate and operational studies at WWTP. <br />Currently Service Director Limpert, acting City Engineer Mike Raig and others are <br />reviewing those proposals. <br />2 <br />
