Special Council Minutes of 3/27/2006

are facing in our revenue streams over the next year. He really doesn't know how we're
going to address that. All he is saying, at the end of the year, he would prefer to have
money in the bank with severe cuts now rather than 2008. He doesn't think there is any
question in 2008 we're going to have to face some very difficult questions. But to
continue to fight the administration this year would be a total waste of time. Secondly, he
has never had the opportunity to thank Mr. Dubelko. He was very, very upset about what
was going on with this budget and felt he personally was not making a difference. After
reflection and second thoughts, he decided it was not the right thing to do to walk out.
He appreciates that the Law Director gave him the opportunity to return. He wants
everyone to know that, even though there are differences, none of this is meant to be
personal. If it is taken personal, he apologizes. But it's politics, and it's a hard job. He
wants to compliment everybody, and he deeply appreciates the job everybody is doing.
Philosophically we have some differences, and we have to work them out. His vote is
yes. Roll call continued: Jones, yes; Barker, yes; Orlowski, yes. The motion passed
unanimously. Ordinance No. 2007-17 adopted.
Mayor O'Grady commented that, although he disagrees with some comments made by
Mr. Talton, he thanks Council for their support ultimately on this budget.
Ordinance No. 2007-28 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. An
ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of $112,000 of bonds, for the purpose of
improving and equipping the city's Springvale Country Club and Ballroom by
renovating, remodeling, furnishing, equipping and otherwise improving the clubhouse
and ballroom, acquiring mowers and other golf course equipment and acquiring and
installing parking lot lighting, in each case together with the necessary appurtenances and
work incidental thereto.
With the agenda being complete, President Kennedy adjourned the special City Council
meeting at 7:37 p.m.
~ ~~
~.a __
Barbara L.
