MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED JANUARY 2, 2007 Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, Dailey Jones, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of December 19, 2006 were approved as written. President Kennedy asked for a moment of silence in memory of former President Gerald Ford. REPORTS Mayor O'Grady: 1) Happy New Year to all. 2) In the coming weeks, he will be representing our city at inauguration ceremonies for Gov. Strickland, State Treasurer Cordray and others. As we begin these new terms, we send our best wishes for success and a sincere desire to see our State move forward. 3) Of the applications for the Network Administrator received, 16 have been selected for review by the Human Resources Director and our Information Technology consultant. The review will determine who is to be interviewed. 4) During 2006, the Building Dept. Property Maintenance Inspector reviewed 3,002 homes, of which 856 required some correction and 137 received letters of commendation for exceptional property maintenance. 5) Five Police Sergeants took the written test on December 30 for the Lieutenants opening. The oral test is tentatively scheduled for January' 13. 6) The retirement of Police Dept. Sgt. Larry Clute is affective tomorrow, January 3. The Civil Service Commission has been informed that we are not replacing his position as those duties have been reassigned. 7) The street repair plan, which is a work in progress, has been submitted to Council. Some fine tuning will still occur, but the administration is prepared to meet with the Streets & Transportation Committee to present the process used in developing the list. 8) Statewide Contracting was awarded the bid for replacement of the roof at Fire Station No. 1. 9) Nine bids received for the Phase II program at the WWTP are being reviewed.
