A resolution opposing the proposal
of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority ("GCRTA") to reduce bus
transportation services to the residents of the City of North Olmsted, by eliminating the
Number 96F and 87F routes, and modifying the Number 75X route so as to cancel all
weekday direct service to downtown Cleveland and declaring an emergency.
Councilman Gareau moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and
committee review. The motion was seconded by Councilman Orlowski and passed
unanimously. Mayor O'Grady noted that he has already conveyed very strong concerns
with regard to those changes directly to the leadership of RTA. He thinks this resolution
is an excellent way of emphasizing that message. The administration fully supports it.
Councilman Gareau asked for clarification on the change to the 75X route as to where it
deviates. Councilman Barker explained that it used to go down Lorain Road to Triskett
and the Westpark rapid station and continue on from there. The proposed change would
be that it would stop at the Westpark rapid station. Councilman Gareau moved for
adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Orlowski and passed unanimously.
Resolution No. 2008-106 adopted.
With the agenda being completed, President Kennedy adjourned the special Council
meeting at 7:02 p.m.

Barbara L.
