<br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 1, 20f18 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, <br />Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Ryan <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 5, 2008 were approved as written. <br />Due to his absence at the Council meeting of March 18, 2008, Councilman Ryan asked that his <br />vote be recorded on the motion to adopt Ordinance 2008-34, the budget. His vote was no. <br />The minutes of the meeting of March 18, 2008 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under <br />suspension of the rules: first reading, Resolution Nos. 2008-48, 2008-50, 2008-51. <br />President Kennedy announced that a public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aprii 29, <br />2008 with regard to Ordinance 2008-17. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Last week he observed the defense of a doctorial dissertation, following <br />which the candidate was unanimously awarded a PHD through Cleveland State's Levine <br />College. We offer our most sincere congratulations to Dr. Lisa Thomas for this great <br />accomplishment, and we thank her in advance for the great things she'll be doing for our city in <br />the future. (Dr. Thomas was congratulated by all present.) <br />2) Received a thank you note from Capt. Wallace Nicholson, the Commander of Battery B, Third <br />Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery, of the 82°d Airborne Division. Although he writes they <br />have been busy of late, they greatly appreciated the care packages that have been sent by the City <br />of North Olmsted, specifically the Girl Scout Cookies and the Frisbees were a huge hit. Thanks <br />to the good citizens of North Olmsted who participated and supported this effort, which is on- <br />Doing asanother mailing will soon go out. <br />2) On Thursday, Apri124, we will host our 90 and older celebration at the Senior Center. <br />3) Springvale Golf Course is ready for the good weather of 2008 to begin. All citizens are <br />encouraged to golf at our city owned and operated golf course. <br />4) Non-perishable food items and cash donations are being sought to help out the needy in North <br />Olmsted. This is an on-going issue as our food cupboard utilization has increased every year. <br /> <br />
