i
Council Minutes of 3/18/2008
Mayor O'Grady commented that he is very proud of the professional and open
relationship that the administration has with this very fine Council, and he looks forward
to that continuing. Mr. Larnbert's distortions are nothing new. If Council Members have
any questions, he will be glad to discuss it with them.
Don DeBrodt, 23141 Stoneybrook, said he thought the whole letter was a cheap shot
against the Mayor and against the Safety Director.
L1~GISLATIQN
Ordinance No. 2008-6 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. An
ordinance amending Chapter 1163 (Signs) of the Zoning Code in order to provide new
regulations for temporary signs as amended.
Ordinance No. 2008-34 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. An
ordinance to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures for the City
of North Olmsted for the year ending December 31, 2008 as amended. Councilman
Gareau moved for suspension of the rule requiring three readings and noted it had been
reviewed in committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker. Roll call:
Gareau, yes, with the further explanation for the suspension is that this the appropriation
ordinance. If it's not passed and put into effect this evening under suspension, we'll
either have one more meeting which will have to be scheduled or we won't have it in
place by law and all sorts of not-so-good things will happen. Roll call continued:
Barker, yes; Mahoney, yes; Jones, yes; Orlowski, yes. The motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Gareau moved for adoption, and the motion was seconded by Councilman
Barker. Roll call: Gareau, yes; Barker, yes, with comment. He also would like to thank
Mr. Gareau for his leadership in the budget hearing process. This was his third budget
hearing process being involved as a Councilman and probably his fourth or fifth as a
resident. He want to commend Mr. Gareau for handling such a smooth operation that it
was done in a meeting and a half, whereas in the past it's been three or four meetings
during the evening and then two or three Saturdays. It was a real pleasure this time.
Thank you. Roll call continued: Orlowski, yes; Mahoney, yes; Jones, yes. The motion
passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 2008-34 adopted.
MI_ SCELLANE4_ US_BU~~N.~S,
Councilman Barker scheduled a Building, Zoning & Development Committee meeting
for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 to discuss the Clark Gas Station. Also, a BZD
Committee meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. following the public hearing on April 29 to
discuss Ordinance 2008-17. The Law Director and Planning Director are asked to attend.
10
~F~ _ .~~ -
