.,.
Mayor Thomas O'Grady -Report to City Council
December 15, 2009
A. Issues:
1. Many thanks to my Administrative Assistant Annie Kilbane, and to all who attended our
annual Christmas Party with Santa at Springvale Ballroom. It was a great event.
2. Very best wishes to all for the coming holidays and New Yeaz.
B. Departments:
1. Community Life Services:
None.
2. Human Resources:
None.
3. Planning:
None.
4. Safety:
Dale Mitchell has received his State of Ohio certification from the Boazd of Building
Standazds as a Building Official. This certification is required to oversee the issuance of permits
and to keep North Olmsted's designation as a certified building department. Congratulations to
Commissioner Mitchell for meeting the standards and passing the rigorous examination process
in order to meet the requirements.
The Safety Department continues to receive complaints regazdng open burning, that is
residents holding bonfires outdoors and causing noxious odors for neighbors. A standardized
response letter, signed by the Fire Chief, has been prepazed. The letter informs property owners
that a complaint has been made and responded to by North Olmsted safety officials. The letter
further states that additional complaints may result in a nuisance designation assigned to the
property.
The FOP has challenged the faculty, staff, and students of the North Olmsted High
School to a volleyball game on Friday, December 18~'. The game begins at 1:20 pm.
School Resource Officer Jim Carbone is hosting aday-of-giving Mocktail party on
December 18~' from 10:00 am to noon at the back gym at the High School. Students who make
donations will be eligible to participate in the event.
Engine 2 has been in fleet for repairs several days in the past week. While it has been
diagnosed as an electrical issue, the exact cause of the problem has not been determined.
5.
