<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 18, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Clerk of Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Councilman Orlowski asked that the minutes of the Council meeting of August 4, 2009 <br />be changed on page 8 in the second line of comments by Mr. Lambert, the words "the <br />health care" should be removed and the word "that" be inserted. Council Member Dailey <br />Jones noted that on page 10 under Resolution 2009-85 her vote for suspension of the <br />rules should be recorded as "no" and not "yes." President Kennedy announced that the <br />minutes would stand approved as corrected. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2009-84, Resolutions 2008-87 <br />and 2009-88; first reading, Resolution 2009-98 and Ordinance 2009-99. <br />President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />August 25, 2009 regarding Ordinance Nos. 2009-63 and 2009-64 (wind energy). <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) The Westshore Council of Governments finished second among <br />hundreds of applicants and won $100,000 from the. Efficient Government Now fund for a <br />study on the possibility of a regional fire district. Total cost for the study will be <br />approximately $150,000, with $100,000 paid by the grant and the remaining $50,000 paid <br />by using Westshore COG funds. Thanks to the many individuals who voted. Westshore <br />COG looks forward to improved fire and EMS services at a reduced cost to taxpayers. <br />Legislation is before Council this evening to authorize the study and suspension is <br />requested. <br />2) The second annual community shred-it day was held on Saturday, and it was a huge <br />success. A steady stream of residents brought boxes and bags of papers to the municipal <br />parking lot where a representative from the company Shred It proceeded to handle over <br />3,500 pounds of paper. The administration is very happy to offer this service to our <br />residents at no additional charge. <br /> <br />
