Y CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE N0. 80- 55 BY: RON WILAMOSKY ^+$qc: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING CODE OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BY ADOPTING A NEW AND REVISED CHAPTER 1221 ENTITLED "SIGNS", AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to amend the existing zoning code with respect to the construction and maintenance of signs in that the existing code is no longer satisfactory. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION l: That there is hereby adopted a new and revised Chapter 1 1 o the Zoning Code of the City of North Olmsted entitled "Signs", which new and revised Chapter shall read as follows: "CHAPTER 1221 "SIGNS". 1221.01 Intent Sign regulations, including provisions to control the type, design, size and location thereof, are established in order to achieve, among others, the following purposes: (A) To promote attractive and high value residential districts, by permitting only nameplates, bulletin boards and signs related to the development, rental or sale of residential properties; and (B) To provide for reasonable, and yet appropriate, conditions for advertising goods sold or services rendered in business districts by relating the size, type and design of signs to the type and size of the establishment; and (C) To provide for appropriate signs for service and industrial developments. 1221.02 Conformance Required Signs shall be designed or maintained, in whole or in part, in accordance with the type, design, size, location, illumination and other provisions set forth in this Title. The construction, erection, safety and maintenance of all signs shall be also in accordance with the provisions of the Building Code of the municipality. The provisions of this Chapter shall not amend or in any way interfere with any other code, rule, or regulation governing traffic, or other signs erected by public authority within the municipality. The display of official public notices, the flag, emblem or insignia of a political unit, or signs erected by a public authority within the street shall not be governed by the provisions of this Title. Temporary displays or signs in connection with a charity drive or to advocate the election of a candidate or candidates or the passage or disapproval of an issue shall not be governed by the provisions of this Title provided the same are removed within ten days of the completion of the drive or the election involved, but the license for erection of such signs shall be considered personal to
