Y <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 80- 55 <br />BY: RON WILAMOSKY <br />^+$qc: <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BY ADOPTING A NEW AND <br />REVISED CHAPTER 1221 ENTITLED "SIGNS", AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to amend the existing <br />zoning code with respect to the construction and maintenance of signs <br />in that the existing code is no longer satisfactory. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That there is hereby adopted a new and revised <br />Chapter 1 1 o the Zoning Code of the City of North Olmsted entitled <br />"Signs", which new and revised Chapter shall read as follows: <br />"CHAPTER 1221 "SIGNS". <br />1221.01 Intent <br />Sign regulations, including provisions to control the type, <br />design, size and location thereof, are established in order to <br />achieve, among others, the following purposes: <br />(A) To promote attractive and high value residential <br />districts, by permitting only nameplates, bulletin <br />boards and signs related to the development, rental <br />or sale of residential properties; and <br />(B) To provide for reasonable, and yet appropriate, <br />conditions for advertising goods sold or services <br />rendered in business districts by relating the <br />size, type and design of signs to the type and <br />size of the establishment; and <br />(C) To provide for appropriate signs for service and <br />industrial developments. <br />1221.02 Conformance Required <br />Signs shall be designed or maintained, in whole or in part, <br />in accordance with the type, design, size, location, illumination <br />and other provisions set forth in this Title. <br />The construction, erection, safety and maintenance of all <br />signs shall be also in accordance with the provisions of the <br />Building Code of the municipality. <br />The provisions of this Chapter shall not amend or in any way <br />interfere with any other code, rule, or regulation governing traffic, <br />or other signs erected by public authority within the municipality. <br />The display of official public notices, the flag, emblem or <br />insignia of a political unit, or signs erected by a public authority <br />within the street shall not be governed by the provisions of this <br />Title. Temporary displays or signs in connection with a charity <br />drive or to advocate the election of a candidate or candidates or <br />the passage or disapproval of an issue shall not be governed by the <br />provisions of this Title provided the same are removed within ten <br />days of the completion of the drive or the election involved, but the <br />license for erection of such signs shall be considered personal to <br />
