<br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 80-50 <br />BY <br />r. ,i~,,. <br />"WNa^" <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SECTION 161.16 <br />OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF-NORTH <br />OLMSTED ENTITLED "LEAVE OF ABSENCE POLICY" OF <br />CHAPTER 161 ENTITLED "EMPLOYEES GENERALLY", <br />WHEREAS, the Council and the Administration wish to establish <br />a leave of absence policy for all employees of the City of North <br />Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That there is hereby established a new Section <br />161.16 ~ the Codified Ordinances entitled "Leave of Absence Policy" <br />of Chapter 161 entitled "Employees Generally" which new Section <br />shall read as follows: <br />161.16 LEAVE OF ABSENCE POLICY, <br />A. All employees of the City shall be entitled <br />to take a personal leave of absence with the <br />approval of the department head, or in the <br />case of directors of the departments, the P-Mayor. <br />Any leave of absence for personal reasons, shall <br />not, however, exceed a ninety (90) day period. <br />During said ninety (90) day period said employee, <br />in order to maintain any and all benefits which <br />are paid by the City shall be required to pay <br />to the Director of Finance, the cost of said <br />benefits in advance on a monthly basis. In no <br />event, however, may an employee take a personal <br />leave of absence and combine it with a leave of <br />absence for sickness, as hereinafter provided. <br />The maximum permissible leave of absence for any <br />reason shall be ninety (90) days. <br />B. Any employee who is required to be away from <br />work due to sickness as specified in Section <br />161.01 (b) having met all of the requirements <br />of this Chapter for absence from work because <br />of the sickness, shall be entitled to use up <br />sick leave which has been accumulated in <br />accordance with Section 161.01(a). When an <br />employee has exhausted all accumulated sick. <br />leave, then that employee shall be entitled <br />to a sickness leave of absence which shall <br />not exceed ninety (90) days from the date that <br />said employee has exhausted his accumulated <br />sick leave. During said ninety (90) day period <br />said employee, in order to maintain any and all <br />benefits which are paid by the City shall be <br />required to pay to the Director of Finance, <br />the cost of said benefits in advance on a <br />monthly basis. <br />
