CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2009 -125 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SERVICE TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE A WARD OF A <br />CONTRACT TO PROVIDE ADA IMPROVEMENTS TO THE NORTH <br />OLMSTED SENIOR CENTER, COMMUNITY CABIN AND NORTH <br />OLMSTED PARKAS DETAILED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN <br />THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, AND A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR, <br />FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO <br />CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council created, through the adoption of Resolution No. 2009-04, a <br />Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), in part, for the purpose of reviewing and recommending <br />applications for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) during fiscal years 2010 <br />through 2012; and <br />WHEREAS, the City received $100,000 in CDBG funds for accessibility improvements <br />to the North Olmsted Senior Center, Community Cabin and North Olmsted Park. These <br />improvements will bring these facilities into full compliance with the Americans with <br />Disabilities Act (ADA). The City must receive bids for this project by December 31, 2009 by <br />contract with Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Service to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide ADA improvements to the <br />North Olmsted Senior Center, Community Cabin and North Olmsted Park. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Service to <br />advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide ADA improvements to the North <br />Olmsted Senior Center, Community Cabin and North Olmsted Park, as detailed in the <br />specifications on file in the Engineering Department, and authorizing the Mayor, following <br />approval of the Board of Control, to contract for the same with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately to provide sufficient <br />time for bid advertising and bid opening with a deadline of December 31, 2009, and further, <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: /UDI.l,~dt~~~, ~?~~ <br />First Reading: /b t, ~6 <br />Second Reading.• ~~ / y_1~ ~ <br />Third Reading: ( _ <br />Committee: ,,~~ ~ _ <br />
