~~, <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2009 - 98 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO APPL Y FOR THE <br />ATTORNEY GENERAL'S DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION GRANT; FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT IF AWARDED; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Public Safety and the Chief of Police <br />that the City apply for a Drug Abuse Prevention Grant from the Office of the Attorney General in order <br />to obtain partial reimbursement for the wages that will be paid to the Police Department's School <br />Resource Officer in the upcoming 2009-2010 school year; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, acting upon the recommendation of the Director of <br />Public Safety and the Chief of Police, to authorize the Chief of Police to apply for said Drug Abuse <br />Prevention Grant, and to further authorize the Mayor, on behalf of the City, to accept the grant if <br />awarded; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Chief of Police to apply for a Drug <br />Abuse Prevention Grant from the Office of Attorney General, and further authorizes the Mayor to accept <br />the said grant if awarded and to execute any and all documents required to effectuate receipt of the said <br />grant. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately <br />necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for the reason that it is <br />necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately because the grant application deadline is <br />August 21; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, <br />it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~~~ `~- .2t, r~ ~ d2 p~ ~ First Reading.• ~ ~' (~' J <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Reading.• ~-~-.~s~C-~e~. <br />A <br />,,~ , <br />Committee: ,~~~,~, <br />` ai ~- <br />KEVIN M.
