<br />Resolution No. 2009-85 <br /> <br />SECTION 2: That the city of North Olmsted, Ohio urges Congress to support public <br />hospitals and other providers in the health care safety net so that those who fall through the <br />cracks of expanded health coverage may still receive care; so that surge capacity is available in <br />case of public health emergencies; and so that the cultural competencies achieved by providers <br />serving diverse populations are preserved and enhanced in a reformed health care system. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this <br />Resolution to President Barack Obama, Senator Sherrod Brown, Senator George Voinovich, and <br />Representative Dennis Kucinich. <br />SECTION 4: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately because the <br />Congress is currently in the process of deliberating the Administration's health care reform <br />principles and President Obama has asked that the reforms be passed by Congress before the end <br />of the year, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two thirds of all mernbers of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />t`-~' <br />PASSED: {''~ (,~-ti-~c-~.- <br />First Reading: ~~`~ D <br />Second Reading: Ff' D q <br />Third Reading: ~/i G~ 9 <br />Committee: ,~~.,, - l..t~' ~ <br />ATTEST: <br />BARBARA L.
